Mt. Kulis

GoodDay my loves, A new adventures began, it was my first time to join a hiking in a group called joiners. You cant select who will be joining in a group but you grab someone or friends with you. Different individuals and personalities but one goal is to experience and wonder in nature. We are the last stop, me and my special someone who had experience in this kind of events train me prior to the event but in my head, Its not really a big deal since walking is my daily routine. I was not able to sleep well bec of excitement before that day.

We arrived at the destination at 4am. It was a 2 hrs travel from Manila to Tanay. Van is included back and forth if you avail the joiners but food is excluded. We grab something to eat and short briefing from our tour guide about what to do and not to do during hiking and ofcourse a little background about the mountain. Our tour guide was really accommodating, they took pictures of us and lead the way throughout. I salute her despite of her age and weather conditions. There are couple of activities so I dont felt bored cuz I thought we will walk until getting on top of the mountain which I was wrong. I am glad bec I dont like hiking all the way and stop for a little and hike again. The nature is really refreshing despite of hot weather. I had so much fun. 🤩We also experienced riding in a 4 wheel truck down to the mountain and its scary bec there are path which is high and low so we go down and up so my heart really beats fast but thanks God we were safe. We took pictures in every angle and activities like the noah’s boat, the heart shape on top of the mountain , rock formations, web and etc. In the later part, We swam in a pool to cool down, I am a bit sad bec I was not able to witness the falls bec its out of water due to weather.. :(

Overall experience was great. Thanks to all people we bonded though we don’t really get each other names. To those people we play killer, healer and police while waiting for our turn, its quite fun. :) see you when I see you!

Here are a few things to keep in mind if you're planning your hike:

Trail Info:

  • Difficulty: Moderate
  • Duration: Around 3-4 hours (depending on your pace)
  • Elevation: About 700+ meters above sea level
  • Best Time to Hike: Early morning or late afternoon to avoid the midday heat. Weekdays are generally less crowded.

What to Bring:

  • Water: Make sure to hydrate, as it can get hot and the climb might be tiring.
  • Snacks: Some light snacks for energy (like granola bars or fruits).
  • Sun Protection: Sunscreen, sunglasses, and a hat since the trail can be exposed at some points.
  • Proper Footwear: Hiking shoes with good grip because the trail can get muddy or rocky in some areas.
  • First Aid Kit: Always handy in case of minor injuries.

Trail Features:

  • Scenic Views: Once you reach the summit, you'll be rewarded with beautiful panoramic views of Tanay, the nearby mountains, and sometimes even a clear view of Manila.
  • Nature: The trail takes you through lush, green forests, and you might see wildlife along the way.

Safety Tips:

  • Always hike with a buddy or a group if possible.
  • Follow the trail markers or a guide if you’re unfamiliar with the route.
  • It’s best to go with a local guide if you're new to the area, as they know the safest routes and the local terrain well.
